Masked muggers attack NJ postal worker second day on job: report
A pair of masked muggers violently attacked and robbed a new postal worker in Millburn, New Jersey, earlier this month. The attack occurred on May 13, just the second day on the job for the postal employee. According to Milburn police, the suspects had been following the mail carrier as he delivered letters and packages along his route, before attacking and stealing his postal keys.
Home surveillance footage captured the brazen daylight attack as the postal worker attempted to fend off his attackers. The footage shows the postal worker being pushed onto a driveway by one of the attackers. After picking himself up, the worker can be seen repeatedly requesting Siri to call 911 before being held down by the muggers, who then snatch his master key and flee in a silver Mercedes-Benz sedan.
The victim told a 911 dispatcher that he had a feeling the suspects were up to no good and that they had been watching him prior to the attack. Lenny Weiland, the resident whose surveillance camera captured the incident, believes the assailants hid between a dumpster and a storage unit next door before jumping out at the unsuspecting mail carrier.
Both the Millburn Police and the US Postal Inspection Service are investigating the robbery, and Weiland hopes that sharing the video will lead to an arrest.
