Madeline Kingsbury’s parents file motion to ban ex’s contact with kids

The parents of Madeline Kingsbury, a Minnesota mother whose remains were found more than two months after she disappeared, are asking a court to prevent her ex-boyfriend from having contact with their children after being charged with her murder. Adam Fravel, 29, who faces two counts of second-degree murder, was granted supervised visitation with their two children at his arraignment in case he is released from jail. However, Cathy and David Kingsbury’s attorney Anna Tobia wrote in a motion filed on Monday that he poses a flight risk and based on his behavior towards law enforcement when the children were placed in the custody of Winona County, there is every reason to believe he would flee with the children.

The Winona County Health and Human Services recommends that the children remain in the legal care of the county, and visitation and contact be ceased. In a letter to Judge Mary Leahy, the department noted violent incidents between Fravel and Madeline in front of their children. A concerned person for Kingsbury’s wellbeing has told police that Fravel said she would end up like Gabby Petito if she didn’t listen up before she went missing on March 31, according to court documents. Fravel admitted to making the comment but claimed it was a joke.

Fravel, who previously insisted that he had nothing to do with Kingsbury’s disappearance, told police he left their house at 10 a.m. March 31 and that she wasn’t there when he returned but said her phone, wallet, and jacket were in the house. Madeline Kingsbury’s remains were found on June 3, south of Winona, Minnesota.

A disposition hearing for Kingsbury’s case has been scheduled for Wednesday.

Ex-Partner’s Contact with Children Banned as Madeline Kingsbury’s Parents File Motion

The parents of Madeline Kingsbury, the Minnesota mom whose remains were discovered over two months after she vanished, are seeking to forbid her ex-boyfriend, who has been charged with her murder, from having any contact with their two children. The motion, filed on Monday, was submitted by Cathy and David Kingsbury’s attorney Anna Tobia, who argued that the suspect poses a flight risk and that his behavior towards law enforcement when the children were placed in Winona County’s custody suggests that he would flee with them if released. The ex-boyfriend, Adam Fravel, was granted supervised visitation with his children during his arraignment, but the motion cites the suspect’s poor treatment of law enforcement, making him unsuitable for such contact. The Department of Health and Human Services supports the Kingsburys’ request and, according to the news outlet, recommends that visitation and contact be ceased and that the kids remain in legal care.
