Landlord kills Canadian couple Carissa MacDonald and Aaron Stone amidst tenant dispute.
Tragedy struck a quiet neighbourhood in Stoney Creek, Ontario on Saturday night when a 57-year-old landlord shot and killed Carissa MacDonald and Aaron Stone, a young engaged couple who were tenants in his building. According to Hamilton police, MacDonald, 27, and Stone, 28, were fatally shot outside their residence at 322 Jones Road, allegedly in response to a housing dispute. Neither victim had a chance to survive, and when officers arrived at the scene, the couple had already been pronounced dead.
Hamilton Det. Sgt. Steve Berezuik told reporters that the couple was “fleeing the residence” when they were killed. The landlord then barricaded himself in the residence and armed himself with multiple firearms that were registered in his name. Officers made an attempt to convince the suspect to surrender peacefully, but the barricaded man torched an armoured police vehicle and flashed the guns he had. When officers tried to confront him at 10 pm, he opened fire, and they had to respond. They fired back and killed him on the spot.
