David Paterson rips Biden for failing to plan for migrant crisis

Former New York Governor David Paterson slammed President Biden’s lack of a plan to address the ongoing migrant crisis, leaving localities like New York City to struggle. Speaking on 770 AM WABC’s Cats Roundtable show with John Catsimatidis, Paterson expressed frustration that there has been no guidance from the federal government on how to handle the issue or make resources available to deal with it. The tens of thousands of migrants being sheltered in New York City is not a temporary situation, and the decisions on those applying for asylum could take years due to a massive backlog. Paterson warned that some dangerous people could slip through the vetting process, and increased tensions between the border crossers and residents could trigger violence. He added that it’s an injustice to both the migrants and the people of the country to continue letting people come in. New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been busing migrants upstate after claiming insufficient space in the city to house them.

Biden criticized by David Paterson for inadequately preparing for migrant crisis.

Former New York Governor David Paterson criticized President Biden for the lack of a plan to address the migrant crisis, leaving localities like New York City grappling with the surge of border crossers. Speaking on the Cats Roundtable show with John Catsimatidis on WABC, Paterson said, “There was no plan. There’s not been any guidance from the federal government to the states or the counties or anybody on how to handle this or make the resources available to do it. Nobody knows where the leadership is to try to solve the problem.” Paterson highlighted that the strain on a city the size of New York could become unsustainable as the tens of thousands of migrants being sheltered there is not a temporary blip and decisions on asylum could take years due to a massive backlog. Further concerns included potential dangerous criminals and increased tensions between border crossers and local residents leading to violence.

Paterson’s criticisms echoed those of Mayor Eric Adams who called on the White House to manage the flow of migrants and provide federal funds to help the city deal with the costly issue. The Biden reelection campaign excluded Adams from its national campaign team as a result. The city is currently housing over 45,800 asylum seekers spread between various shelters, respite centers, and humanitarian relief centers.
